Propeller Shaft Manufacturing Process

  3. Forging or Casting: Heat the raw materials to high temperature (approximately 1000-1200°C), and form the shaft body blank through forging machines or casting molds. This step forms the basic shape and enhances material density.
  4. Machining: Use CNC lathes, milling machines, and drills for precision machining, including cutting shaft ends, keyway machining, and surface flattening. Precision is controlled at the micron level to ensure the shaft's concentricity and balance.
  5. Heat Treatment: Perform quenching, tempering, or normalizing treatments to enhance the shaft's hardness and toughness. Temperature control is precise to avoid deformation.
  6. Surface Treatment: Apply processes such as chrome plating, spraying, or phosphating to improve corrosion resistance and wear resistance. For marine shafts, anti-fouling coatings may also be added.
  7. Assembly and Testing: Assemble bearings, couplings, and other components. Then conduct dynamic balance testing, torque testing, and non-destructive testing (such as ultrasonic flaw detection). After qualification, perform final packaging
